The Way of the Cenote
The geography of the peninsula is unique in the world because there are no rivers, only underground. The limestone nature of the land is completely flat, except in the case of caves created by the flow of rivers. In ancient times the "sinks" in the Mayan culture not only provided drinking and irrigation water, but also constituted sacred metaphysical entry points to Xibalbá , the Mayan underworld or the gods. From the royal blue of Cuzuma , to the emerald green of Lucero Verde , its size, shape and beauty are amazing. There are several ways to get to know this Way, the same in ecological and touristic explorations in groups, which are lonelier and quieter as a couple. Private vehicles and excursion vans can accommodate any number of guests, and some of the best Cenotes are only one hour from Chiquilá.
